Facts To Be Learned About Women’s Golf Clubs

July 20th, 2011 by Allan Marsh | Filed in golf clubs

Today, there are many women who grace the greens even though golf was once known as the “gentlemen’s game.” In many golf clubs, they have as many women or more women members. There are mixed contests as well as women-only tournaments. Women flock to the course and are every bit as thirsty for pars and birdies as the men are because the popularity of the sport transcends gender.

Manufacturers realized that there was an increasing demand for specialized equipment since more women begin to take up the sport of golf. Women golfers know that playing to their full potential just isn’t possible when they settle for using men’s equipment. But on the market today, you can see that there is now a huge selection of apparel, footwear, accessories and women’s golf clubs.

Women’s golf clubs are lightweight, easy to control and set at the proper lengths to match all body types, personal tastes and skill levels.

For instance, no matter how much strength was placed into the hit, all women will be able to accurately shoot because many women’s woods come with variable length lines. Some woods will also display the ideal height of the user. If a woman’s wood doesn’t’ show its height requirements, it is assumed suitable for women between 5′5″ and 5′9″.

Because many women prefer to use woods more often than irons, even on the fairway, having a selection of flexible woods is crucial. Compared to irons, woods offer bigger hitting areas, or “sweet spots”. Designed as such a way the bottoms glide over the surface of the ground without friction are fairway woods. Usually, the length of these woods are also greater than the length of the comparable irons. This would mean that a 4-wood is longer compared to a 6-iron. Women often find that woods are easier to shoot with because of these reasons and are more likely to launch the ball and get better distance than irons do.

Specialized clubs are also available for the short game. Besides feeling light, these golf clubs should also just feel right when you swing and should be short enough to allow you to get right under the ball. It can be handy to have an 8- and 9-iron or pitching wedge when a short approach would require precision rather than distance. It’s time to pull out the putter once the ball is on the green. A putter that’s less than 33″ in length is what women shorter than 5′5″ should choose. Until they find just the right putter, taller women should try different lengths.

Women shouldn’t compromise their comfort or performance by settling for men’s clubs if they love golf. Specialized women’s golf clubs can make all the difference, and turn a good game into a great one.
